The Fisher House Foundation is a public-private program started in 1991,
and was incorporated as not for profit in 1993. The purpose is to provide "comfort homes", temporary housing, at
major military and VA hospitals for patient families. Locally, there are Fisher House's at the VA
Hospital in Seattle and at Fort Lewis, near Madigan Hospital.
The foundation also helps active duty personnel with "Hero Miles", "Scholarships
for Military Children", "Newman's Own Award", and "Caring Bridge". For more details, click on the link below.
Through the Friends of the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health System, VVA Chapter 102 has a seat on the Board of the
"Friends of the Fisher House Committee". To date, the Chapter has donated $1,000 in support of this program.
