The Washington Departrment of Veterans Affairs can provide assistance to eligible incarcerated Veterans:

Services / Eligibility
.
The Incarcerated Veteran Reintegration Services (IVRS) in association with the King, Pierce, Clark, and Thurston Counties’ Veteran Programs are designed to assist eligible Veterans who are currently in custody or recently released from county or city correctional facilities

What we can do for incarcerated veterans:
.
*Advocate with defense attorneys or public defenders for alternative sentencing, i.e.: substance abuse and/or mental health treatment.
.
*Assist with Shelter and transitional housing.
.
*Assist in obtaining financial aid from County Veterans Programs.
.
*Support participant’s employment search via vocational counseling, resume assistance, transportation and provision of work clothes and tools.
.
*Provide hygiene supplies, haircut and working wardrobe vouchers, financial assistance obtaining ID cards or driver’s licenses.
.
*Provide forms and directions in upgrading a less than honorable discharge.  
.
.
Eligibility:
.
*Honorable, Medical or Under Honorable Conditions Discharge.
.
*181 days of active duty service.
.
*You must have no convictions for arson or sex offenses.
.
